On December 12, 2012, LEGO Message Boards moderator Keighlian announced that the popular LEGO Ninjago toy line would be returning in 2014, and provided us with this teaser image.
Then, on December 17, 2012, Keighlian gave us some more info about Ninjago’s return in 2014, and provided us with another teaser image.
However, since that announcement, nothing else has been said, leaving a bunch of speculation and rumors to fly around about what was going to happen, and what exactly was depicted in the first image. What’s more, many saw this as the return of the LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu TV show, which was the #1 Cartoon Network series in 2012, despite no confirmation of the such.
Now, that has all changed. Jay Vincent, who composed the soundtrack for Seasons 1 and 2, confirmed a third season of the popular TV show on his website in his May 2013 News, and also gave us a hint at the new storyline.
It has now been confirmed that there will be at least 8 new episodes of Ninjago that will premiere in late 2013 and 2014. The writers Hageman are hard at work, and scoring will begin late summer of this year. Look out for more Nindroids, new action, and many, many flutes.
I’m personally excited about this announcement. I thoroughly enjoyed Ninjago, and still get chills when I watch The Final Battle. However, LEGO is taking a risk with this, as by the time Ninjago returns, the TV show will have been off for about year (The Final Battle toys are in stores already), and with the LEGO Legends of Chima TV show already airing, the original fan base may not be present for the reboot. Only time will tell. 😉
