I could make this blog post very long talking about what Christmas is and what it has before, but I am not. I did that last year if you want to look that up. Rather, this post will be short, sweet, and to the point.
A Charlie Brown Christmas is one of my all time favorite specials because the message it contains is still true nearly 50 years later (it originally aired in 1965). The message that Jesus Christ, the only Son of God the Father, came to this sinful earth and was born in a lowly manger in The Virgin Birth, took on the body of a man yet was still fully God, died on a cross to take away our sins, and three days later ascended into Heaven and is seating at the right hand of the Father. OK, the special does not tell the whole story of salvation, but it does tell the beginning, Christmas, which is just as important as the end. 🙂
The following clip is perhaps the best part of the entire specials. The part where Linus poetically quotes Luke 2:8-14 from the King James translation. These verses practically sum up the entire meaning of Christmas, even the fact God’s gift is for everyone by telling it to lowly shepherds.
Don’t let all the hustle and bustle created by the commercialism make you lose sight of the real reason for the season. Today, this morning even, take time to sit down and read the Christmas Story as told by Luke in Luke chapter 2. If you do not own a Bible, simply go to https://www.bible.com/bible/1/luk.2.kjv and read it online. Read out loud to your family if you have one. An amazing event took place 2,000 years ago, one that will never happen again. It is the story of God’s love. 🙂
Merry Christmas everyone.
